Playoff Seeding Explained

How Teams Qualify

Each conference sends seven teams to the playoffs: the four division winners (#1-4 seeds) and three wild card teams (#5-7 seeds). Seeding is determined by regular season record with various tiebreakers.

Division Winners (Seeds #1-4)

Ranked by record, these teams won their respective divisions. The top seed receives a first-round bye.

Wild Card Teams (Seeds #5-7)

The three best teams that didn't win their division, ranked by record. All play in Wild Card Weekend.

Home Field Advantage

Higher seeds host playoff games through the Conference Championships. The Super Bowl is played at a neutral site.
