About the AFC South

The AFC South was formed in 2002 as part of the NFL's realignment, bringing together four teams from across the southern United States. While it's one of the newer divisions, it has quickly established itself with competitive football and passionate fan bases.

The Indianapolis Colts dominated the division for much of the 2000s behind Peyton Manning, winning 11 division titles between 2003 and 2014, including a Super Bowl XLI victory. The Tennessee Titans have experienced success with their physical running game, while the Jacksonville Jaguars reached the AFC Championship in 2017. The Houston Texans, the NFL's youngest franchise, have built a strong tradition since joining in 2002.

The division has been home to Hall of Fame quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Warren Moon, as well as dominant defensive players like J.J. Watt and Patrick Willis. State-of-the-art stadiums in Indianapolis, Houston, and Jacksonville showcase modern NFL facilities.

Today's AFC South is characterized by emerging young talent, innovative coaching, and competitive balance. Each season brings new storylines as teams battle for division supremacy and playoff positioning.
